What are Tele-bridge / Tele-class / Tele-workshop /Tele-group workshops?

What are Tele-bridge / Tele-class / Tele-workshop /Tele-group workshops?

Tele class are live, interactive training classes conducted over the telephone, using a telephone "bridge" line. A bridge is simply a telephone line that allows several people to be on the line at the same time. You can call from the comfort of your home or office while eliminating travels time, No traffic. No parking problems. No computer. No time wasted. No large expenses, No dress code.  It's as easy as picking up your phone and talking to a friend.

A Tele class is an innovative, exciting way to share knowledge. Tele class are just like any other  classes, but they are held over the telephone with a number of other people on the same telephone  line (bridge).

A Tele Class is a proven way to participate in live, truly interactive skill-building programs in an hour on a phone call! Research shows that 1-hour is the optimum duration for adults to maximize Tele Class content retention.

What is a Tele workshop?

A tele workshop is a class that individuals participate in via the telephone, similar to a conference call.  Between 10 and 50 people call a bridge number that connects them and their instructor together, immediately and automatically at the designated time.  The sessions are discussion-based, not lecture-based.  The participants may participate as much or as little as they wish, depending upon their learning style.  Participants do not need a computer to take a tele workshop.  It is all done using any telephone.  Participants can call from home, work, or the beach, from any country in the world.  The cost of tele workshops is lower than that of in-person workshops, because there isn't the usual overhead, such as rental for a meeting room.  Tele class and tele workshops free up your mind to be more creative because you don't have any visual distractions. It's similar to the experience you have when you are reading a book and your mind creates wonderful visions, as opposed to when you are watching TV or a movie and all the visuals are created for you, leaving no room for your own imagination and creativity.  You may find that you are more focused during a tele class than in a regular classroom because there are no visual distractions. You can close your eyes and really hear what's being said by the facilitator and the other participants.

                           What is a Tele group

They are a learning/support model that works. With a high rate of inter-activity, tele groups allow be participants to learn rather than simply listen to teaching.

  • They are convenient. Time is our most precious commodity. Tele group save not only transit time but the time wasted before and after "live" presentations.
  • They are short, concise and on target. By their definition, tele groups, conducted over a telephone bridge line with all participants calling the same number, begin and end at an exact time. It is recommended that tele groups do not exceed one hour. This means that the leader/facilitator pays close attention to helping participants "bottom-line" what they have to say. This is also true, of course, for the leader.
  • They are for everyone. Tele groups need not be exclusive to one location. They can easily reach participants across the hall or around the world. Anyone who has a phone can participate.
  • Chaotic. Protocol for checking in and speaking within the group is quickly established. There is order and a solid learning/participation environment.
  • Boring. The lively discussions by a diverse group who bring a variety of experiences to the conversation make tele groups one of the most exciting learning opportunities available today.
  • Unaccountable. Group participants check in with the leader upon arrival. Attendance records may be kept. Certificates of completion may be awarded. Tests may be given via email or on-line. Notes from the group are frequently emailed following the tele group.
  • Impersonal. It is amazing how fast people develop relationships via tele groups. There is something about the anonymity that encourages people to share and become involved at a deeper level than they might in person and face-to-face.

The Tele Class/Tele workshop/Tele group begins promptly at 2 minutes after the listed start time. A Tele Class is similar to a grad school discussion -- some lecture, some questions, some discussion. If this if your first time taking a Tele Class, you may wonder if and how it works. It just does. It's highly interactive and the 'flow' works well. You can listen and absorb and/or engage in the discussion. You can always ask questions of the Tele Class Leader. Most Tele Class/Tele workshop/Tele group sessions last an hour. Some meet one time only, others meet weekly for 4-8 weeks, sometimes longer.

Once registered, you receive confirmation including a helpful protocol guide, any per-class materials and the phone number to call in for the Tele Class. In the proven Tele Class format You really are right there, just like in a face-to-face session, and you are welcome to participate as much or as little as you choose. Then you use your existing phone to call into state-of-the-art telephone conferencing at the scheduled time. While no further technology is needed, some Tele Class programs may optionally offer further content via web or print materials.

The real benefit of Tele Class/ Tele workshops/Tele group is that the entire focus is on the participant need to learn/confirm a specific skill in a fun, interactive environment. Participants benefit not only from the Tele Class Leader's expertise, but also from the comments and experiences of other class participants as well.

. Each caller pays for a normal long-distance call into the bridge.
